Jesse's book touched me deeply. I was so blessed to have been a part of that time especially having known
of Johnny Tullos' love for my sister, Dorothy Malone, who recently passed away. As time goes by, the book
will become even a greater joy to reflect on our youth. Thanks Jesse for recording the memories in such a

I just finished reading "The Red Terrors" and it is not only a great book but I did not want it to end. I have a
wonderful brother who was one of the heroes on that 1964 team and the book brought back millions of
memories of him and of all those great guys and how wonderful they were as they grew up--I was a lucky little
sister. The book also took me back to my childhood and growing up in Brunswick, Georgia. How special it was
to grow up in a safe, sleepy little Southern town that was also a beautiful beach town. Jesse wrote such a
beautiful book about our childhood that I laughed and cried and sat there and cried when I finished it. And, as
for the football game chapters, having lived in Midland-Odessa, Texas, for a while -- "Friday Night Lights" had
nothing on Glynn Academy and The Red Terrors. THANK YOU JESSE!

Jesse did a marvelous job writing a much needed book chronicling the Glynn Academy 64 Championship
season. I thought I knew some of that season but learned through Jesse' book that I knew very little of the
athletic effort made by that greatest of all Glynn Academy teams. I found the book moving and made me
extremely proud to call myself a Glynn Academy graduate. I encourage all lovers of the game of football to buy

time capsule and provides a brief moment in time to renew old acquaintances and visit more than a few old
haunts. As the Red Terrors march toward that elusive AAA Championship, the memories of that run, those
involved and Glynn County as it was in 64', come rushing back. They're all there, Tullos, Van Dora, George,
Mavromat, Mumford and Reichenbach; Sonny Miller's Brunswick All-Stars; Johnny Reb Radio and the "Big
Ape" out of Jacksonville, the Sunset and The Starlight, Twin-Oaks, Shoney's and that unmistakable Hercules
smell (which can still take you back on a cool damp evening when the wind is right). You'll find yourself reading
somewhat slower, anticipating the end, but hoping that the journey will last a bit longer.

Thanks Jesse for this incredibly researched and well written account chronicling The Red Terrors "road to
redemption" and the 1964 AAA Georgia State Championship. You were able to take us from the bitter defeat by
Moultrie in the 1963 South Georgia Championship game on an epic journey. Along the way you reminded us of
the sights, sounds and memories of what made Glynn Academy, Brunswick, Jekyll Island and Glynn County
such a remarkable place to grow up a teenager in the early 1960's. You reminded us also of the importance
Sonny Miller and the City Recreation Department had in helping our youth develop their skills, sportsmanship,
grit and character.
This was the untold story of a group of young men who came together as a Team and achieved greatness;
through you they have achieved immortality.

I was expecting a basic narrative with box scores of the 1964 Glynn Academy championship football year,
and boy did I underestimate this book. This is "Friday Night Lights" on steroids! The incredible amount of
research that went into the writing of this book exposes the history of Brunswick and Glynn Academy that has
never been assembled in one volume, to my knowledge. This background sets up and explains the impact of
this championship season. As one who left Brunswick and Glynn in 1959, Jesse takes me through a time warp,
bringing back the incidents and local characters who were a part of my teen years.

What Johnny Tullos did in the South Georgia Championship game, brother Jesse performs the Literary
equivalent of with this wonderful account of that great, unforgettable season. I was expecting a lot, and I got it!
The Thrills ( you will break out in chills so bad, you will think you are coming down with the Rocking
Pneumonia); the memories, trust me, you will remember so many details of our lives from that year that you
had completely forgotten about. It will also make you laugh out loud at times, last but not least, it will touch
your heart. I don't mind telling you that I shed tears several times as I read through this amazing story, and I
am not talking "little trickling tears". No, I am talking Big, Hot, Steamy Tears, the kind that come from the deep
places of your soul.
Jesse has just ''took it to the house" with this book, I don't think anyone could have done a better job of
capturing the details of this very complex and interesting story. There are so many things that I either did not
know, or had forgotten, but he captured so much of that magical season, and did so in a way that was very
entertaining. Thank you Jesse!
